PICNIC10
23 - 30 AUGUST 2010
Theme : RITUAL
@ Papay Shores, Lands and Ruins
and Indoor Programme @ PAPEY LISTSKJUL and other available rooms |
 |
PICNIC
is an invitation to have a good time in Papay, exploring the Island
and developing place-specific collaborative works. No limits in works
media – all art forms existing, newly created and experimental
are welcome.
We will perambulate in hill and at the shoreline of the island to
find inspiring spot to have a PICNIC, to share meal, drink and ideas.
The Theme of Papay PICNIC is RITUAL as a working process as well as
work/product itself. Contrary to the idea of the ritual as a canonised
action trough its repetition achieving status of TRADITION, we would
like to see the ritual in application to contemporary development
in philosophy and technology. CHAOS AS A RITUAL. GENETIC PROGRAMMING,
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND RITUAL. DELUZIAN RITUAL and other interpretations
which will draw the line between TRADITION and STAGNATION, representing
tradition as a fluid creative action rather than rigid form of behaviour.
The task seems impossible but at the end of the day it will be a great
achievement if we all will have this PICNIC time to reflect on impossibility
and go back with some new ideas |
 |
| PROGRAMME
will be developed during the week. We will test a few PICNIC locations
around the island and possibly will share some results by the end
of the week with a grand PICNIC. The programme will be defined by
the island itself rather than some prepared in advance script. Time
frame of one week is also can be extended considering the distance
some of you will have to travel. If week is not enough – stay
and work two. Month. Years. As long as you need to complete what you
had started. Camping grounds are unlimited as well as the plenty of
edible seaweeds and shells |
