PAPAY GYRO NIGHTS 2011 : RITUAL
Call for Place / Story - Specific Works exploring Ritual as a creative process as well as final work / product itself is open to any media (visual art, performance, music, video, sound and cross art forms)
We are looking for the new ways to revive a tradition (The Night of Gyros) using new ideas, technologies and exploring a possibility of the ritual as a creative process rather then focusing of formal likeness.
Study of the original ritual of The Nights of Gyros may suggest new sinthetic art forms based on the idea of Game.
The original Ritual can be also braken on its elements:
PERFORMANCE
SOUND
FIRE
Proposals for fire Installation and Art Works using fire as a main media. Proposal based on Digital Fire or other interprittions of Fire are also welcome
UNWEARABLE FASHION and WEARABLE ART for extreme weather
Costume is a part of Gyro Night which was transforming during the centuries. We are concern with a ritual dress of today.

PAPAY GYRO NIGHTS 2011 : VIDEO
Call for Artists' Videos exploring Ritual as a creative process as well as work/product itself. Contrary to the idea of the Ritual as a canonised action trough its repetition achieving status of Tradition, we would like to see the Ritual in application to contemporary development in philosophy and technology. CHAOS AS A RITUAL. GENETIC PROGRAMMING, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND RITUAL. DELUZIAN RITUAL and other interpretations which will draw the line between Tradition and Stagnation, representing Tradition as a fluid creative action rather than rigid form of behaviour.

Selected videos will be screened at unconventional locations around the island Papa Westray (Papay)
